About Dr. Sasha

Pronouns: She/her

I created Simply You Medicine to be able to provide the type of care I have always wanted for myself. Seeking healthcare can be intimidating, so I want visits to be as relaxed and calm as possible, free of judgement, yet also productive. My goal is that you walk out feeling heard and empowered with a plan.

In school I loved learning about the human body and mind, so medicine felt like a natural path to pursue. When I learned about naturopathic medicine I was immediately intrigued. While working as a scribe in an emergency department after college, I was further convinced that I wanted an education that would give me a broader toolbox than just medication and surgery. This led me to move across the country to attend Bastyr University.

After residency at Bastyr's teaching clinic, I worked providing primary care at a small family practice and birth center. While it was an honor and joy to be the point person for individuals and families in their healthcare, the breadth of general practice made it difficult to have the time to dig deeper into the underlying causes of certain conditions. Narrowing my focus has allowed me to refine my expertise to get better results for you.

When not in practice, or researching how to improve this craft of medicine, you can find me enjoying the Puget Sound area with my family.

My Approach

My aim is to help you feel better, reach your goals, and have the agency you deserve in your own healthcare. To do this, I typically discuss conventional options as well as more traditionally naturopathic approaches so that we can work together to determine the best assessment and treatment plan for you. There are times when I will recommend a pharmaceutical medication or surgery consult if I believe it is the best option.  I am a collaborative rather than an authoritative healthcare provider. I know that I am personally more likely to follow a plan when I understand the purpose, so I value taking the time to help you understand why I suggest specific tests and treatments. I don't take it personally if you return not having done anything in the plan, but rather get curious about why not. My goal is that when you leave my care, you feel empowered to troubleshoot and advocate for what sort of support or shift you need when something isn't working for you.   I strive to be trauma-informed, as well body and LGBTQIA+ positive. I welcome people of diverse backgrounds, beliefs and relationship structures.

Prospective patients often want to know what sort of assessment we will do. This will depend on what has already been done. I recommend uploading labs in the patient portal prior to your first appointment. If there are other conventional labs I suggest we will discuss those in the first visit. Since many patients have already had a thorough workup through the conventional route, I'll often suggest other testing. If you're being seen for a chronic skin condition I will recommend a comprehensive digestive and urine organic acids test to help point us in the best direction for treatment. For chronic genitourinary issues I typically suggest more advanced assessment of the local microbiome (e.g. good and bad bacteria, yeast, etc.). With hormonal concerns we may start with additional blood tests, or jump to other alternative tests that can give a more comprehensive picture. You can schedule a 15 minute discovery call to get more information about my general approach. Please note that I can not give individual medical advice during these visits.
